TRANSFORM LIVES ONE SCHOOL AT A TIME

The Transform Lives program provides schoolchildren access to drinking water, better sanitation facilities, a learning-conducive school environment, and digital and life skills awareness trainings. Parents, teachers, and children are encouraged to increase enrollment and reduce dropouts in rural government schools, especially for girl children. School Management Committees (SMCs) are provided with support and training to build their capacities for improved and sustained functioning of the school.

By providing safe infrastructure, clean drinking water, toilet facilities, life skills, and digital awareness sessions, school enrollment and retention have increased, leading to positive outcomes.

WASH (WATER AND SANITATION PROVISIONS) IN SCHOOLS

Transform Lives focuses providing essential WASH facilities in government schools such as drinking water and toilet facilities. Creating a rooftop rainwater harvesting system in the school provides potable water to students for drinking and sanitation purposes, and a safe designated space with separate toilet facilities for boys and girls caters to hygiene and sanitation needs of schoolchildren.

CAPACITY BUILDING OF SCHOOL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEES

Transform Lives builds the capacities of school management committees (comprised of teachers and parents/guardians of schoolchildren) to sustain and better manage the functioning of their government school. Committee members are trained about their roles and responsibilities for refining the quality of education and improving and sustaining the school assets.

DIGITAL AND LIFE SKILLS AWARENESS

Transform Lives advocates Digital and Life Skills Awareness Trainings for schoolchildren and youth in alignment with the vision of National Digital Literacy Mission "to empower at least one person per household with crucial digital literacy skills by 2020." This focus on bridging the divide between rural and urban children helps to develop social and emotional skills and increase children's knowledge of government programs and their own role in the development of their village.

SCHOOL TRANSFORMATION

Transform Lives transforms the school environment into a safe and healthy space to provide learning-favorable surroundings for schoolchildren. The campus is modified to incorporate safety measures, add greening to school premises, and provide wall educational paintings to have an inspiring learning atmosphere for children. Play equipment is added where appropriate. Smart classrooms made in the form of innovative models improve school education and inspire children to stay in school.
