JPL & S M Sehgal Foundation’s Integrated Village Development Initiative.
Jhajjar Power Limited (JPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Apraava Energy, signed an MOU with S M Sehgal Foundation for a one-year project on Integrated Village Development in twelve villages of district Jhajjar, Haryana.
The MOU was signed on this April 22, in the Gurgaon office of the foundation by Ms. Anjali Makhija, trustee and CEO of S M Sehgal Foundation; and Mr. Bhaskar Bhattacharjee, senior vice president and whole time director of Jhajjar Power Limited.

HDFC Bank Parivartan’s Holistic Rural Development Project, implemented by S M Sehgal Foundation, works with rural communities on natural resource management, clean energy, health and hygiene, life skills, agriculture livelihoods, and rural infrastructure. Stories of Change.
Machhrauli village, situated in the Nuh district of Haryana, with a population of around 4,400, struggled with water scarcity, significantly impacting the daily lives of residents. During a Village Leadership Schools (VLS) session, community members raised this pressing issue and were subsequently informed about the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. Through proactive measures, the village successfully addressed its drinking water challenges.

Partnership Highlight.
Pond Inauguration with Mercer.
S M Sehgal Foundation and Mercer partnered again to rejuvenate two ponds under the Water Conservation Project that were handed over to the community at Bhirawati Village, Nuh, Haryana, on this April 3.
The water-holding capacity of the ponds increased by 16 million liters after desilting. The Mercer team volunteered to further beautify the pond surroundings with wall paintings and tree plantation. The Village Development Committee (VDC) formed under the project has taken responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the pond in the future. Senior management from Mercer attended the program along with the community members.

IndusInd Bank and S M Sehgal Foundation Together Address Water Woes.
S M Sehgal Foundation joined hands with IndusInd Bank (CSR) for a “Water Conservation Project” across six villages in districts Bhiwani and Jhajjar, Haryana. The goal of the collaboration is to rejuvenate traditional ponds to augment groundwater and promote water conservation in agriculture through water-efficient irrigation practices.
Over thirty-six months, 60 million liters of water-storage capacity will be created with the seven ponds under the project coming to life, benefitting 22,000 people. Read more

S M Sehgal Foundation’s Community Radio Connect FM 107.8 is now on Radio Garden, a platform created by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, along with the Transnational Radio Knowledge Platform and five European universities. Alwar Schoolgirls Get New Toilets.
S M Sehgal Foundation’s supporters from Iowa, inaugurated the newly transformed Government Senior Secondary School in Roja Ka Bas in Alwar, Rajasthan. The transformation work done under the Transform Lives one school at a time program included rainwater harvesting structures, a digital library, a new toilet block for girls, and smart classrooms.

Polyhouse Empowers Farmers.
S M Sehgal Foundation facilitated a Farmer Producer Organization to set up a polyhouse on 0.75 acres in Kolar, Karnataka, under a CSR-supported project. The cultivation of capsicum within the polyhouse marks the beginning of a promising agricultural venture supported by modern technology and sustainable practices.
MatiKalp Ceramic Pot Filter Validated.
Ms. Ranjana Ray Chaudhari, department head of Regional Water Studies at Teri School of Advanced Studies, acknowledged the MatiKalp ceramic pot filter developed and provided by S M Sehgal Foundation. The filter demonstrated excellent efficacy in removing iron, manganese, and fecal coliform from drinking water, effectively reducing their concentration to safe limits.

Project Anubhav 2.0 Webinar.
Pooja O. Murada, principal lead of Outreach for Development, S M Sehgal Foundation, moderated the webinar on Anubhav 2.0, a project empowering senior citizens through podcasts, initiated amidst the second wave of COVID-19 in 2021 and implemented across ten locations in India. These centers produced 1000 audio programs guided by local community radio experts and media professionals. Read more
Earth Day Summit.
Mr. Salahuddin Saiphy, principal lead of Water Management at S M Sehgal Foundation, attended the Earth Day Summit in Lucknow, organized by Aga Khan Foundation and Greater Sharda Sahayak, Government of Uttar Pradesh. as a panelist in the session: Jal Source Sustainability and innovative approaches to water conservation.
