Rotary Club of Alwar Honors S M Sehgal Foundation.
S M Sehgal Foundation has been honored by the Rotary Club of Alwar for its exemplary work in transforming government schools through the Transform Lives one school at a time program and implementing effective water management interventions across various projects in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. Mr. Navneet Narwal, principal lead, Project Implementation, at S M Sehgal Foundation received the award on behalf of the team.

Manjamma, from Kolar, Karnataka, was provided with a Package of Practices (PoP) kit containing micronutrients and biofertilizers for cultivating potato crops on 0.5 acres of her field. The yield of potatoes grown by the traditional method was 3,900 kg, while she harvested 4,850 kg from the demonstration plot.

CISC Completes 10 Years!.
Started in 2014, S M Sehgal Foundation’s Citizen Information Support Center (CISC) initiative completed ten years in 2024. Established in Nuh, Haryana, CISC acts as a one-stop window ensuring effective information dissemination related to government programs and provides solutions for speedy access to government benefits at an individual as well as collective level.
To date, CISC has received 78,026 calls enabling last-mile access to information.

S M Sehgal Foundation’s Efforts Recognized in Champawat.
At the 12th Extension Advisory Committee Meeting on June 28, 2024, at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lohaghat, Champawat, Uttarakhand, S M Sehgal Foundation was recognized for its impactful work under HDFC Bank Parivartan.
The achievements include revitalizing over 90 acres with solar irrigation, enhancing green cover, empowering women farmers, enhancing agricultural skills, and establishing a Farmer Producer Company for comprehensive agriculture solutions.
Dr. Chauhan, Vice chancellor of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, presented S M Sehgal Foundation with a letter of appreciation, which was accepted by Mr. N P Singh, senior program lead, Agriculture Development at S M Sehgal Foundation.
Jalagam White Paper at Ministry of Agriculture.
S M Sehgal Foundation and DCB Bank teams had the privilege to meet with Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Shri Faiz Ahmad Kidwai. The group briefed Shri Kidwai on the Jalagam workshop series conducted across four states in India that gave a platform to community stewardship initiatives to ensure rural water security and presented the white paper compiled on the workshop outcomes. Shri Kidwai encouraged the initiative and shared valuable suggestions and ideas, particularly focusing on enhancing water-use efficiency in agriculture.
Partnership Highlight.
Parivartan in New Villages of Nuh.
S M Sehgal Foundation launched the HRDP project supported by HDFC Bank Parivartan in fifteen villages of Pinangwan, Nuh. With the goal to uplift rural areas through multi-sectoral interventions of livelihoods, education, natural resource management, and sanitation, the project is expected to cover about 3,200 households within three years.

Kolar FPOs Make Strides in Mango Output Business.
Seven Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in Kolar, Karnataka, have achieved a remarkable mango output business. This initiative under the Bolstering Farmer Producer Organizations project has been supported by Walmart Foundation and implemented by S M Sehgal Foundation. In just three months, they have done business of ₹1 crore and continuing.

Transformed Rural School with EY Foundation.
EY Foundation and S M Sehgal Foundation partnered in 2023-24 together with the school authorities, the School Management Committee, and the Gram Panchayat to transform the village school to have better classrooms, smart classroom, toilets, solar power system and a digital library.

In collaboration with IIT Bombay, SMSF’s community radio Connect FM 107.8, broadcasts the radio series Dainik Jeevan Mein Vigyan (Science in Everyday Life) every Sunday. The series focuses a scientific lens on everyday phenomena and activities such as the chemistry of cooking and the physics of sports.

Introduction of Biosand Filters in Pasighat.
S M Sehgal Foundation, in collaboration with the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST), introduced biosand filters to the hardworking daily wage earners and schools in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. In a community where many residents still depend on surface water, these innovative filters promise to ensure access to safe drinking water, ultimately leading to better health and an improved quality of life.

Ms. Shruti Swaroop, a seasoned HR expert and advocate for women’s inclusion, engages with Ms. Pooja O. Murada, principal lead of Outreach for Development at S M Sehgal Foundation.
