SMSF Wins ISC-FICCI Sanitation Awards 2024.

In its twenty-fifth year of rural development, S M Sehgal Foundation received the 2024 ISC-FICCI Sanitation Award in the category Best Non-Profit Engagement Model in Sanitation (Rural). At the event held at FICCI House, New Delhi, Mr. Secretary Ashok K. K. Meena; Joint Secretary Sh. Jitendra Srivastava, Dept. of Drinking Water and Sanitation; FICCA President Harsha Vardhan Agarwal; and Chair Naina Lal Kidwai and CEO Natasha Patel of India Sanitation Coalition presented the award.

Stories of Change.
In collaboration with Walmart S M Foundation, Sehgal Foundation is implementing a project to control crop residue burning and promote agricultural development in one hundred selected villages of the Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts. The foundation’s team is raising awareness among villagers about the importance of stopping crop residue burning and training them in better agriculture practices. As part of this initiative, the foundation has distributed twenty-eight super seeder machines to selected beneficiaries in Kaithal and Kurukshetra. Read more…

Nestlé India and S M Sehgal Foundation proudly mark the 5 Years of Project Vriddhi!.
Launched in 2019 in Nuh, Haryana, this initiative has transformed the lives of 18,000 beneficiaries across fourteen villages by promoting community-led rural development. Celebrating its success in Kaliyaka village, community leaders and beneficiaries reflected on the journey, highlighting achievements such as pond restorations, farmer trainings, school facilities enhancement, and women’s empowerment through nutrition programs.

HWTS Network India Chapter Annual Learning Exchange.
The HWTS Network India Chapter successfully hosted its 5th Annual Learning Exchange at S M Sehgal Foundation in collaboration with CAWST and sponsored by P&G. The event created a collaborative space to share knowledge, discuss innovations, and foster community-driven approaches to household water treatment solutions (HWTS).

BMW India Foundation and SMSF Challenging Groundwater Salinity.
The BMW India Foundation and S M Sehgal Foundation signed an agreement for another year of partnership, taking our strong collaboration beyond five years now.
The “Water for Future” project has already benefited more than 8,000 schoolchildren in the region, with twenty-three rainwater harvesting systems installed to ensure access to clean drinking water in rural schools.

Cleanliness and Hygiene Camp.
S M Sehgal Foundation organized a cleanliness and hygiene awareness camp attended by more than 150 students, teachers, and community members. The camp was held at government high schools in Badopal and Kharlan, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, under the Sustainable Guar Project, supported by Ashland.

The S M Sehgal Foundation’s Aurangabad team inaugurated the ZP Uppar Primary School in Shirodi, Kh. Block Phulambri, Dist. Chatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), that was transformed under the Krishi Jyoti Project. Attendees included the SMSF team along with the Mosaic India team, community members, students, teachers, and VDC and SMC members.
Capacity-Building of Farmers and Youth.
Continuous training is essential for the capacity building of rural farmers and for the youth who represent the future of agriculture in India. S M Sehgal Foundation organized two impactful exposure visits:
- Krishi Mela 2024 at GKVK, Bangalore, empowered 108 farmers by introducing them to climate-resilient crops and advanced agricultural technologies to enhance productivity amidst climate challenges.
- A collaboration with ICRISAT’s Soil Science Department, an awareness program was conducted in Chegunta, Telangana, to educate farmers, Village Development Committee (VDC) members, and students on soil health management and testing. A mobile soil testing facility was utilized to demonstrate the soil sampling and testing process.

S M Sehgal Foundation and CAWST conducted an orientation workshop “Safe Drinking Water” for the executive board members of SR Seva Sadan at Manthani, Telangana.
