Every campaign has its heroes—and this year, for India Giving Day 2025, those heroes were our incredible Sehgal Foundation Ambassadors. Their commitment, creativity, and heartfelt outreach turned a two-week campaign into a powerful story of community, generosity, and impact.
First and foremost, we extend our deepest gratitude to all our donors. Your generosity and belief in our mission made this campaign a resounding success. Every contribution, big or small, helped us exceed our last year’s numbers and bring digital learning opportunities to children in rural India.
A highlight of the campaign was the fundraising event held in Des Moines, IA, at the home of Reggie and Kay Sinha. This gathering brought together the local community in support of digital literacy and skills training in rural schools. The event was masterfully led by young leaders, including Marcus Clutter, Ashwin Sinha, and Sachin Sehgal, who each shared their firsthand experiences during field visits to rural India. Their inspiring stories underscored the passion of the next generation for India’s rural development and reinforced the importance of sustained philanthropy in driving meaningful change.

From the start of India Giving Day’s Peer-to-Peer campaign, our youth ambassadors sprang into action—sharing stories, reaching out to their networks, and championing the cause of digital learning for children in rural India. The energy was contagious. As one gift came in after another, the numbers started to climb—and so did our hope.
By the end of the campaign, Sehgal Foundation Ambassadors had collectively raised over $9,000 bringing the total to over $18,000 with the matching gift from Dr. Suri and Edda Sehgal. But beyond the numbers lies the heart of the story: people like Ashwin Sinha and Tushita Mullick, who poured their passion into the campaign and inspired others to give.
Ashwin led the charge, not just once—but twice! He raised the highest amount and brought in the highest number of individual donors. In recognition of his extraordinary efforts, Ashwin received a signed copy of My Big Fat Desi Wedding by Prerna Pickett and earned shout-outs across our social channels.
A long-time supporter, Ashwin has been involved with Sehgal Foundation since his primary school days, when in 2008 he witnessed stark disparities in school infrastructure and access to clean water in rural India. Motivated to make a difference, he launched his first fundraiser as an elementary school student, raising funds to provide new desks and benches for a school in Mewat. Over the years, he has continued to drive impact through annual fundraising events, outreach efforts, and an internship with Sehgal Foundation in India. His dedication remains steadfast as he proudly represents the foundation as an Ambassador.
Meanwhile, Tushita Mullick, a high-school student, impressed us all by raising the second-highest total. Her thoughtful and persistent outreach earned her a place of special honor among our top-performing Ambassadors and heartfelt recognition on social media.
Tushita’s journey with Sehgal Foundation began at an early age, attending foundation events in her hometown of Des Moines, IA, which shaped her understanding of rural development and community-driven change. Last summer, she took her passion further by interning with the foundation in India, where she worked on community radio initiatives. Witnessing the power of radio as an educational and social awareness tool, she launched a speech and debate radio show in rural India. This program, which reached over 300 villages, empowered youth with communication and critical thinking skills, giving them a voice in their communities. Today, she continues to support and expand this initiative, ensuring that young voices in rural India have opportunities to learn, express themselves, and shape their futures.

Each Ambassador brought something unique to the table, and together, they turned this campaign into more than a fundraiser—they made it a movement.
Sehgal Foundation’s success in the India Giving Day campaign is a testament to the power of collective philanthropy and the impact of a unified platform like India Giving Day. Created by the India Philanthropy Alliance, this initiative has brought together the Indian diaspora and others passionate about India’s development, inspiring them to give back in meaningful ways. The invaluable support of Rural India Support Trust (RIST), through its matching funds and prize incentives, further encouraged participation and generosity, amplifying the reach and impact of each contribution across the 38 participating nonprofits.
The generous dollar-for-dollar match by Dr. Suri and Edda Sehgal doubled the impact of every donation to Sehgal Foundation, ensuring that even more communities in rural India benefit from digital literacy, clean water, better schools, and a learning-conducive environment. This collective effort highlights the strength of collaboration in driving meaningful change for India’s future.
