A nicely painted building of an anganwadi center in Rigarh village, Ferozepur Jhirka block, Nuh, Haryana welcomes children and pregnant and nursing mothers to spend part of their day in this stimulating, newly renovated building. The relevance of the building can be estimated with the population it serves.
Rigarh, with approx. 2,500 population in 350 households, depends on two anganwadi centers for multiple services under the ICDS program of the government. The facelift of the building can be attributed to a CSR project supported under HDFC Parivartan in the village, which has been implemented by S M Sehgal Foundation since 2021. A village development committee (VDC) formed with 20–25 people who received training on different government topics every month and then to participate in interventions in collaboration with the team and also monitor them. The VDC raised concern about the poor condition of one of the anganwadi centers in the village that needed immediate repairs to serve the beneficiaries.
The anganwadi center was transformed and made ready to ably assist children and women with its renewed infrastructure, which has paved the way for improved service delivery at the village level.
