Jyoti, a Class 11 student at Government Senior Secondary School in Indergarh, Alwar, Rajasthan, comes from a modest background. Her father works at a grain warehouse to support the family. She has a brother in Class 6 and a sister in Class 9, both of whom study at the same school.
In Class 9, Jyoti was introduced to life skills training through sessions conducted by S M Sehgal Foundation. These sessions, which focused on goal-setting and planning skills, inspired her to aspire to a career as an IAS officer. Driven by determination, she achieved an impressive score of 76.33% in her Class 10 exams. However, she initially struggled with doubts about her career path, believing that selecting subjects with high-scoring potential was the only way to achieve her goal. During a career counseling session organized by the foundation, Jyoti received valuable guidance that encouraged her to pursue subjects aligned with her interests. This led her to choose Humanities, a stream that resonated with her passions and future career ambitions.
The S M Sehgal Foundation digital library initiative has played a crucial role in supporting Jyoti’s education. Equipped with computers and a variety of academic and general resource materials, the library, located within the school, provides free and convenient access to digital resources. Grateful for the guidance and support she has received, Jyoti remains steadfast in her mission to realize her dream of becoming an IAS officer and serving the nation.
