Shalu, a Class 11 student at Government Senior Secondary School in Indergarh, Alwar, Rajasthan, hails from a farming family. Her mother is a homemaker, and she has three siblings: an elder sister who is in college, and a younger sister and brother who are still in school.
Her school benefits from a digital library established by S M Sehgal Foundation that provides students with training in digital and life skills, covering topics such as computer and internet usage, mobile applications, and their advantages and drawbacks. Located on the school premises, the digital library offers students offline access to a wide array of educational materials, enriching their learning experience. Shalu, with her innate curiosity, has always been particularly interested in mobile applications and their development.
In December 2024, Shalu participated in the Rajasthan Yuva Mahotsav held in Malakheda and organized by the Rajasthan government. Leveraging the skills, she had gained through the digital library and its training sessions, she created a presentation on mobile applications for the digital fair, emphasizing their benefits and limitations. Her well-prepared and engaging presentation earned her first place at the block level, for which she received a shield as an award.
This accomplishment qualified Shalu for the district-level competition, with opportunities to advance to state and national contests. Inspired by her success, she now plans to further refine her model using the digital library in hopes of securing victories in the upcoming competitions.
